The Womb – Sex Tape (2013/2015)

  • Singer-songwriter
  • Alternative pop
  • Indie pop
  • Art pop

Comment: as the title hints at UK born Alan Driscoll sings explicitly about sex in terms of seedy full shades, quarter shades, and penumbras. He does it through a wide prism of colours. In fact, he has chimed about physical love before this 10-notch issue and also thereafter. The tracks used to be seductive in their lurking formats. However, it can be admitted Alan Driscoll's music is always different, always the same. He pushes right buttons to create an intimate milieu by giving you a chance to come along with the songs. His oeuvre can be put somewhere between Momus, and Pulp, being more close to the former, though. You can perceive his dry yet a bit cynical and mocking approach. On the other side, a sex tape is something which could be closely connected with Jarvis Cocker's voyeuristic tendencies. Just thinking of the term "romantic relationship". Does it mean either hints at pre-sexual flirtation period or does it mean a sexual intercourse included? I started thinking of it while listening to a song called L.B.N.I.A.S.W. /It's love but not in a sexual way/. By my side, the more I am going to be acquainted with a girl the more I can ultimately make physically satisfying love with her. I think it is the right direction because it celebrates love. Otherwise I would prefer "professional" ones instead of wasting my time for nonsensical times. There is no disappointments, there is no excessive expectations. Fine work. The issue is released under Driscoll`s own Danielle Records.

Arte Sacra Atelier – Piano (2016)

  • Modern classical
  • Ambient drone
  • Post-classical
  • Art music
  • Ambient
  • Experimentalism
  • Avant-garde

Comment: the piano as an instrument has been often considered as the synonym of the classical music but for an average contemporary person classical music is obviously being considered as boring. Of course, it is a superficial approach because in the first place there is interesting music within the genre and secondly you can hear such artists as Nils Frahm, Hauschka, Lubomyr Melnyk, Max Richter who have given the piano a contemporary approach. Of course, the piano as an instrument alone is restricted but by adding to it some electronic extensions, and sonic effects and the result is generally great. Arte Sacra Atelier, an artist from San Antonio defines himself/herself more broadly, or at least beyond the borders of piano at his/her Bandcamp site (an Italian noise crooner). On the other side, though, the recent 5-track issue is entitled as Piano. However, the result is synthetic. A listener can hear experiments with lone piano chords being embraced by echo effects and wondrous ambience and on the other side there are represented massive ambient and drone quests. In a word, it is another great experimental work you can find out at Kermesse.

Futant – Cyberpunk (2017)

  • Electronic music
  • Experimental electronica
  • Alternative
  • Minimal synth

Comment: I have listened to this 5-notch outing for many times and the more I listen to it the more it seems to be a mirror of the Sisyphos myth who is rolling the stone upward the hill. And then it starts off again and again from scratch. More profoundly, distorted beats, algorithmic electronic progressions and chopped-up rhythms do trudge across a line being backed up by the atmospheric layers. Is it an example of sophisticated primitive music? For sure, it is an opposite movement with regard to a polished and sterile studio production instance. At Procedure Complete it is going to progress into a minimal synth instance. In a word, you could find out democracy from this music you are not able to find it anymore from the most other areas in Western hemisphere. There is the right opinion, there is the wrong opinion. Most information around you used to have a superficial and propagandist value. The release is a part of the discography of cOmaRecOrdz.

Balogh=Double Sided Double Density (2011)

  • Electro-acoustic
  • Avant-garde
  • Experimentalism
  • Leftfield
  • Noise
  • Plunderphonics
  •  Improvised music
  • Sampledelic
  • Avant-blues

Comment: Jared C. Balogh is a man who has done very much for the sake of the weblabel/netlabel world. He has been leading an imprint, Altered State Of Mine and released a bunch of albums. So it can be said he has had very much to say even if having a focus upon his particular albums. One of them is over there being released on Kermesse, an Argentine imprint. The description of it at the release site is apprehensible – 4 tracks of layered first take improv. And it works in its roughness and raggedness, having made it on guitars, the drums and electronic/sonic effects (accelerations, manipulation with hisses). One can feel curious of what is going to happen during the next steps. The second track Sad Alert Alarm Emergency one can perceive that below those distorted guitar-based overdrives is the simplistic theme progression which reminds me of Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones. However, later tracks embrace clear-cut samples from pop songs. It is all about distortion and disruption in a straight and indirect sense. You can hear chopped and sliced rhythmic patterns, unusual sonic combinations being obviously inspired by cutting-edge jazz, dada music, Captain Beefheart's deranged soul. Get this miscellany of intriguing compositions and sounds.

SatanoiD – Astronomical Disease (2017)

  • Breakcore
  • Alternative
  • Electronic music
  • Drill and bass
  • Jungle
  • Digital hardcore

Comment: let's continue with a similar content with regard to Spuma Pu's self-titled issue. This time we have to come to the north coast of the Baltic Sea, to Finland. Satanoid's 7-notch outing is an intense, frantic platform for incisive synthesised progressions, piercing drones, atmospheric middle layers and laser guided rhythms. Is it a depiction of the vestibule of hell? However, I do not believe in hell, and devil instead of it you can believe in God (which is not restricted by ridiculous depictions of the so-called religions anyhow) and the mischievous nature of human being. And Earth is going to be hell thanks to us. You cannot change it better for yourself even if you are having such frivolities as an iPhone, and Gucci & Mucci bottles. It is a way of self-deception. Like Mark E. Smith once chanted /eat why'self fitter/up the stairs mister/. Indeed, there are no stairs on its own way. There are up the stupid TV shows only. It might be this 7-track one depicts a perverted relationship between God and a human being. It might be it is a depiction of a battle between different civilizations in Outer Space. The absurdity of annihilation. I could say the intensity is atop if you are listening to it in a less conscious level. The issue is a part of the discography of Entity.

Roberto Daglio - Coll.of Coll. Two (2014)

  • Yacht rock
  • Mood music
  • Jazz pop
  • Lounge
  • Easy listening

Comment: this set of 4 tracks is the follow-up to the same titled issue though I have not listened to it yet and because of that I have no chance to compare the two ones. However, it is not a problem. So much as I have listened to it so far it is obviously the most moody and easily running issue getting inspiration from cloudless sky, and deep blue ocean. Yet the listener cannot deny the impact directed to the body – so you could imagine a romantic club somewhere nearby the beach being coloured by the sunset and being the place for romantic meetings. Roberto Daglio also makes reference to his famous compatriot Ennio Morricone at Seed of Peace which is an angelic masterpiece. The Mirror includes an acidic, psychedelic development giving the track a catchy outlook. You can draw parallels upon such masterminds as Bruno Nicolai, and Paul Mauriat as well. Yet it is an outstanding success by Roberto Daglio himself.

Spuma Pu – Spuma Pu (2017)

  • Freeformfreakout
  • Avant-garde
  • Experimentalism
  • Improvised music
  • No Wave
  • Improvised noise
  • Electronic music
  • Leftfield
  • Radiophonic art

Comment: from conservative point of view it is a chaotic bullshit which does have a few in common with traditional songwriting. In fact, some shards of the traditional song structure are demolished into unknown. More profoundly, there are up some layers from CAN's most experimental tracks like Aumgn, and Peking O by Tago Mago, the twisted electro-punk ethic of Suicide, improvised noise ethic of Borbetomagus and No Wave in general. You can hear hallmarks of experimental music like sheer experiments with radio short waves, gritty electronic music, vowel and gurgling dashes, unexpected turns in different directions, accelerated and decelerated sonic effects. Mostly it comes out like an obscure radio play from the 70s (one of the best experimental genres). It reminds me of Sarah Raisines who did already appear at RMH, and Pan Y Rosas Discos and is represented on the release. In a word, let's set your mind free to embrace the aforementioned madness. The mind-provoking outing is a bit in the discography of Pan Y Rosas Discos.

Notforme – Small Town Mysteries (2017)

  • Folk punk
  • Alternative rock
  • Punk folk
  • Post-punk
  • World music
  • Bluegrass

Comment: this 4-notch issue clocking in at a 10 minute is a galvanized blend of droning ethnic tendencies and punk formalism. It starts off with chiming melodic guitars in the vein of Motorama, obviously the most famous Russian alternative rock example at the moment. Given that it is not surprising at all the starting track is influenced by the famous compatriots. However, later on, the jaunty course continues to go on with more roots and world music vibes. At Chekhov's Gun you can hear male and female bound vocals with hints at bluegrass, for example. It's sexy and purgative. The outing is a bit in the discography of the Russian Southern City's Lab. And congratulations to the Russians for winning the Olympic hockey tournament. And congratulations to the Germans for winning the silver medal. It was an unbelievably crazy course one can witness very rarely. You deserved each other.

Noblemo "piano, sountrack, lounge" – Heart Of The Piano (2011)

  • Piano music
  • Mood music
  • Electronic

Comment: what about us? What about you? What about me? What about those thousands of people who are listening to Jamendo? What about those millions of people who are listening to mainstream stations and having no idea about those thousands of people who are listening to Jamendo. Don't give a heck to them. And vice versa. The recent artist, for example, has issued a loads of albums during the last decade but will those millions of people to know about the outings until their heart stops to beat. I guess no, because worldwide there are up news and information which are immensely more important. For example, I just read that one celebrity, let's say her name is Lyra Tarhum, decided to remove her uterus. Actually it seems to be a very heroic statement by her but I have no chance to remove it even if I would like to do it. In a word, how to translate the information into a useful one from your own perspective? Indeed, we are weird animals who are descended from the monkey, a stupid beast. And some of us thinking they are better than the others. That's called divine comedy acted by mundane worms. This 5-cut outing is a joyful blend of upbeat piano chords, some more joyful piano chords, and some cloudless synthesised hovers in the middle of it. In overall, it is wrapped up by naive and childish tendencies. I guess Noblemo does mean No Problemo in fact. It chimes like a sonic counterpart to a trouble abandoned picture from a brochure of Jehovah's witnesses. A lion is there beside a sheep and he is not intended to attack the other animal because he is satisfied with the uterus from a parallel universe. It is a sci-fi wish similarly to Elon Musk`s ones to fly and then die on the reddish ground of Mars. God, You cantankerous one please let it happen. We need more cerebral outflow, we need more subliminal delirium, we need more tago mago. We need more possibilities to come as soon as possible to our limited yet deadly borders. So what about us? So what about you? What about me?

Wings Of An Angel – What Is So Counterintuitive About Forcing An Average Guy To Be A Philosopher? (2018)

  • Contemporary classical
  • Art music
  • Piano music

Comment: it can already be assumed that Wings Of An Angel as an artist is stubborn and consistent in many aspects with regard to his oeuvre. It might be even better to describe it with the adjective "uncompromising, the adjective which has been used for the most time for the mighty Fall Mark E. Smith. In the recent case it does mean the Israeli artist employs a few templates to build up a contemplative sonic house. More profoundly, the album starts off in a minor key with lamenting orchestrations and lone piano chords in the middle of them. It is like an austere depiction of the desert in a human soul. It may be. Do you think you feel yourself lonely because of that? It might be it will create imaginable space around you by putting you sitting down within no one's land. Furthermore, a listener is let alone with intentions of the lengthy titles of the compositions so it could be either a purgative or devastating span of your time. Given that the minimal nature of the 6-track album and on the other side the lengthy titles by the artists in overall it can be admitted the artist's purpose to convey his philosophy. Indeed, he has been stubborn during his musical tenure nonetheless a listener is technically stuck by those drawn-out song titles which used to surface some problems either on replaying them in a mp3 player or transferring them from one source to another. I would have to abbreviate the album title with regard to particular tracks to fulfill the conditions. Fortunately the album has been managed in the way to involve changes both in emotive and structural level throughout the course. The listener can breathe in and out while listening to majestic and ennobling progressions. It emits depth and some kind of superficiality at the same time. By practical reasons I was listening to it while reading a book about constituting of paradigms in scientific philosophy. Having been bound together it is a highly motivating and illuminating experience. By based on repetition and distinctions and conditional circularity between them one is audibly chained to have a look at those expected changes. Yeah, get into it there is a broad world inside.

Kaneel – La Pink Note (2008)

  • IDM
  • Synth-pop
  • Electronic music
  • Indietronica
  • Alternative
  • Glitch pop

Comment: by listening to this 6-notch release it is like entering into a time shuttle and journeying back in time for 18 years. Back to the era of which was predominated by such labels as Mille Plateaux, and Morr Music which were being platforms for releasing indie-drenched electronic music (otherwise it would loosely be named acidic artsy synth-pop). Later on, there were netlabels which started to appear for such kind of music (the likes of Aerotone, Poni Republic, Error! Lo-Fi, 12rec, Petite & Jolie, No-Source). The release comes out of the umbrella of Petite & Jolie by providing crispy glitch-imbued rhythmic sections to back up subtle melodic progressions, and vice versa. Emotionally it flips in and out on a border of laid back atmosphere and intensified, even obsessive insight. Indeed, it brings playful dynamics and propulsive tension into the blend. The final part Au Revoir Pt 2 imitates adeptly Parisian street music melodies thereafter putting them under an algorithmic application of electronic music for to provide a proper farewell. That's the point of it. In a word, it a nice and nostalgic contemplation for a contemporary listener. So let's crank up the engine and embark on the journey.

Mauro Sambo & Matilde Sambo - ...sibilava tra i Denti...(2017)

  • Avant-garde
  • Improvised music
  • Experimentalism
  • Art music
  • Electro-acoustic
  • Field recording
  • Musique concrète
  • Drone

Comment: these 28 minutes and 48 seconds are based on the play of a couple of musicians whose music meanders through disparate valleys and mountains. There is up the layer of guitars which is surrounded by tectonic sound of a gong, some human sounds, electro-acoustic noises and hisses, at times magnified, at times zoomed out. However, the result sounds always in a magnificent manner. Indeed, you should not be afraid of the technical description of the album. In fact, you can perceive an issue of emitting warmth and providing a welcoming sense nonetheless its heavy technical and artsy buildup. I can hear some similarities with another excellent duo, Natural Snow Buildings. Behind the project are Matilde Sambo who plays electric guitar adds field recordings, and manipulates with electronics. On the other hand Mauro Sambo operates with electronics, plays double bass, gong, kalimba, and percussion. And all the instruments are clearly audible over there. The outing is a bit in the discography of Plus Timbre. NB! By listening to it with an open window you should be warned it may be difficult to differentiate one sounds from the other ones. On the other side, it is a sign of reconciliation of the different ambiances.

Breakup-Party – Ghosts (2017)

  • Power pop
  • Alternative rock
  • Indie rock
  • Emo
  • Art rock

Comment: Breakup-Party`s Ghosts showcases different aspects of the Berlin, German quartet`s 7-notch album. It starts off and continues somewhere with Radiohead tinged dreamy rock yet in the meantime it is loaded with powerful instruments, mostly with ploughing guitars and the drums. More profoundly, Christian Ehrich obviously mimicks Thom Yorke`s singing manner (chopped-up words and heavy repetition on them). Additionally, the soundscape is variegated by atmospheric guitar effects and keyboard based orchestrations and other sounds which makes difference. In a nutshell, it can be said it is a solid outing of which is adeptly produced and dosed with feelings and attractiveness in progressions and just within the sound. The issue is a part of the discography of Djummi-records.

Gomme – Hiss (2017)

  • Punk rock
  • Indie rock
  • Riot grrrl
  • Angst rock
  • Alternative rock
  • Post-punk

Comment: Gomme comes out of France by playing rough punk rock/post-punk/alternative rock. It can be considered riot grrrl because the combo embraces three women (Betsy, Lauren, and Hannah). Hopefully I can describe them as women. Maybe I am a chauvinist schwein because of employing this word. However, I really hope I am not. I like many moments within this 10-track outing. There is a German sung composition Gott ist Tot. It is obviously a reference to Friedrich Nietzsche although I am quite sure today Nietzsche would have said today Gott ist nicht tot because the recent society and weltanschauung is not a place to foster genuine heroes. The recent human being is way too weak and fragile and enslaved by machines he/she has him/herself created. Because of being so weak and fragile and practising a parasitic lifestyle he/she cannot consider him/herself a God. It comes the time when we need the genuine God more than we have ever needed. Secondly there is a powerful cover song of Kate Bush`s Wuthering Heights. I like the trio`s straightforward gear mostly played on a guitar, a bass, and the drums (at times the instruments are accompanied by synthesised sounds either). At times the tuning of the guitars is turned down and thereby emitting sounds out there of coming very close to doom rock riffs. At times the guitars are changed into cellophane tuning and millennium-ending anxiety thereby getting an alternative rock combo a la Sonic Youth. I can say Gomme rock very well though the favourite female rock combo of mine is still Electrelane. The issue is a part of the discographies of such labels as Moncul, and Black Totem Records.

Makunouchi Bento – 3 Electrical Snowghosts (2017)

  • Electronic music
  • Alternative
  • Improvised music
  • Ambient
  • Hauntology
  • Art music

Comment: there is up another wondrously humming release being truly stunning due to its atmospheric layers and lunatic rhythmic sections as if coming out of a helium-filled globe. It chimes like a modern sound enclosure of a fairy tale within one can hear mystical and hyper-realistic tendencies. The fairies are dancing and unicorns are flying. The Romanian combo's music fosters your longing fantasies and drops you down into magic layers to get away from this bleak world. So yes, the music lends validity to the narrative, and vice versa. At times one may say it is a half-way into The Caretaker's aesthetics but it then would take the path elsewhere. For example, the listener can discern uncanny, jazz and improvised music leaves being filtered through the aether in the midst of the mix. Just listen to it because the words and sentences are way too imperfect to translate this 3-notch issue. it is an absolutely brilliant art ghost.
