AAVV – Otto Anni e non sentirli VOL 2 (2011-2019)

  • Ambient pop
  • Expermental electronica
  • Electronic music
  • Electro pop
  • Modern classical
  • Post-classical
  • Ambient
  • Post-disco
  • Bhangra

Comment: this batch of 10 compositions is released by Italian imprint Ephedrina and there are represented such artists as Whalt Thisney, Mutaform, Bist, LEON DER ROTE, Hypercube, Пёщ Ептгу feat ACRATEP, Wesqk Coast, Structure, GUMP PROJECT, FABER ONE & ELEX MAN. Musically it is a wide scope of electronic explorations, from modern classical and experimental electronica/glitch mixed sounds and angular ambient developments to bubbly electro pop, uncanny post-disco frequencies and even sultry bhangra vibes. In a word, this whole is a lovely accumulation of different styles and artsy intentions.

NAMM – L'Arte dei Rumori (2018)

  • Electronic music
  • Indietronica
  • Ambient pop
  • Post-classical
  • Modern classical
  • Synth-pop
  • Electro pop
  • IDM
  • Kosmische Musik
  • Drone pop

Comment: just before listening to this set of 10 tracks I had listened to GYBE!'s Luciferian Towers (2017, Constellation) which paradoxically introduced L'Arte dei Rumori because the album also involves some orchestrated semi-symphonic post-rock/chamber rock/post-classical opuses yet it is just an angle within the whole (especially a track called La mar). Conversely, predominantly it is driven by adeptly carved synth threads, acidic drones and exuberant rhythmic progressions indicative of lo-fi aesthetics due to those shaggy beats a bit. I guess such a sort of alloy will have been producing for centuries (because it does have a potential on its own) but it is right now and here to be enjoyed. It is a vibrant crossroad for synth-pop, indie electronic and IDM. Saltamontes provides a renewed insight into Kosmische Musik/Krautrock. The issue is a bit in the discography of Ephedrina Records. Very good.

AAVV – The Other Sound Of The Light (2017)

  • Electronic music
  • Breaks
  • Space disco
  • Kosmische Musik
  • Alternative
  • Disco-rock
  • Electro pop
  • House
  • Downtempo
  • Deep techno
  • Kraut-techno
  • Glitch-electro

Comment: this is a joint miscellany of 12 tracks by Ephedrina Records, an imprint from Italy, and Anti-Demos-Cracia, an imprint from Portugal. There are represented such artists as Mutaform, CRPTC, Fingerflood, Hypercube, Electric Dreamers, Hist, Overdrive, We Hate All These Liberals, Guta Project, Hesskhè Yadalanah, Errors Alternados, and Orquestra Popular De Paio Pires. I guess most of these names may be unknown to you, however, being an ardent follower of the imprints then you should have made acquaintance with the artists. Let`s have some thread about the compilation which will be clocked in at a 54 minute (indeed, it is an accepted longitude for a compilation). Undoubtedly it is a variegated issue with flourishing accents and exuberant shades. At times it is rhythmically obsessive just consisting of different rhythmic combinations to following one another or establishing new mutations within the rhythmic matrix. Some tracks are broadened with progressions toward atmospheric spheres and extracting an enchanting quintessence from synthesiser. All in all, I could not mention any weak track within the whole so I have to admit it to be a classy, mandatory compilation. Get it, support it.

Fingerflood – Beats And Stabs And Kick In Four (2017)

  • Dub techno
  • Electronic music
  • IDM
  • Crossover
  • Remix
  • Breaks
  • Ambient trance
  • Psybient
  • Dubtronica

Comment: it is an overhaul of dub music and its possibilities to establish new (crossover) forms with electro, electronic music in general, world music and psychedelic segmentations. At times it is more deconstructed into disparate pieces thereof resulting in deranged yet tickling developments. For instance, electronic effects are juxtaposed to soothing ambient layers and caressing bouncy rhythms. Behind the project is an Italian producer, Gaetano Fontanazza whose 6-notch issue is a joint release between such imprints as Noisybeat, Ephedrina, and Sucu Music.

CRPTC – Peaks (2017)

  • Ambient pop
  • Tech-house
  • Deep house
  • IDM
  • Electronic music
  • Indietronica

Comment: club dance/club music-oriented rhythms are mixed up with smooth melodies/harmonies and appealing electronic progressions. More concretely, the listener can partake in two different realms running in parallel way at the same time. Firstly, how the ending result used to constitute ultimately over the four track course and secondly, one can track down the process in its playful details. From atmospheric tech-house and deep house to elegant ambient pop/IDM/indie electronic tinged flickers. The issue is a part of the discography of Italian Ephedrina Records.

Dany Angelelli – Black Flower (2016)

  • Electronic music
  • Alternative dance
  • Minimalism
  • Leftfield
  • Alternative dance
  • Post-dubstep
  • Drone
  • Electro-pop
  • Illbient
  • Ambient drone

Comment: this is an exquisite example of how rhythmic (dance) music and electronic music elements meet each other given that both of them being clearly separated beforehand (in some circumstances they might be identical) especially these elements are represented in the second track White Flower, a sturdy blend of electro and more veiled post-dubstep frequencies. It is the contemporary version of Italo disco. Indeed, it represents the lighter side of the artist on it while the title composition is more murky and lurking. An ominous ambient and drone tinged pattern just keep hovering over there without remarkable changes while being accompanied by an almost unchangeable rhythmic pattern. Nevertheless, the artist is a true master to deliberately uphold a sultry milieu through the said elements and combinations between them. Although the tracks differentiate remarkably yet both make up these 11 minutes as an enchanting whole. The issue comes out from the Apennine Peninsula under the Ephedrina imprint.

Koona - Strakey 7´´ (2012)

  • Club dance
  • Grime
  • Trap
  • Dubstep
  • Breakstep
Comment: Koona is a producer from Corigliano d'Otranto, Italy whose 2-track issue does echo tendencies from contemporary United Kingdom related club scene. Indeed, Koona offers up different pace tissues from dubstep and trap to breakstep and grime which in turn is a far echo of Jamaican rhythms. Nevertheless, these modern labels do not make music by themselves anyway. Fortunately Koona`s music is sophisticated and successful due crispy rhythmic patterns and sublime synth hovers above – the first track Underwater crafts cadences and brooding bubbles meandering along a zig-zag path. The latter piece Starkey seems to be slightly more exuberant thanks to gliding yet darkly glossy synth layers. However, the rhythmic structure is similarly disturbingly intriguing in a good sense. This thought and dance-provoking issue is released on Ephedrina whose discography is vast and worth to get discovered

Alessio Oissela - Avant-garde Jouets (2012)

9.1

/Electro pop, Electronic pop, New Wave, Synth pop/

Comment: this 8-track issue consists of uplifting, compelling electro breaks and bubblegum gears which used to merge organically into each other. On the other side, there are some exceptions either where AO`s electro-tinged beat-terrorism seems to be connected with New Wave/synth pop aesthetics and Cocteau Twins-esque reverberations. Indeed, this music does hints at avant-garde music because of revealing its poignant and a little exceeding nature. The Project can be compared with the likes of Drexiya, Dopplereffekt, Arpanet.
