x3d5 – Binary Protection (2010)

  • Electronic music
  • Ambient
  • Psybient
  • Alternative
  • Breaks
  • Chilltronica
  • New Age
  • Mood music
  • Glitchtronica

Comment: this batch of 10 tracks is like a raindrop reflecting upon the qualities of being embraced in the other raindrops either. I mean lots of breaks, ambient, cut-up debris, synth effects and psychedelic tendencies to be up there in many ways interspersed with one another. Moreover, it can be considered as a recent New Age music example as if sitting somewhere in the middle of rain forest and enjoying the play of shadows. Sultry rhythms and colourful synthesised shades used to flicker in a way to provide a magical, a bit otherworldly experience. As you can hear it is an organic listening experience. It a bit reminds of some albums of Estonian artist Tont. The cover print is black and white and depicting a place in nature by accentuating its distance from the civilised life. Great music by any means created by Russian artist Vitaliy Stromchinskiy. The outing is a joint release of the discographies of Russian imprints Subwise, and Fusion.

Algesis - Mosaic Relics (2012)

9.5

/IDM, Experimental techno, Glitch techno, Ambient techno, Noise, Electronic pop, Experimental electronica/

Comment: this 8-track album is a masterful issue made up of gloomy rhythms, noisy glitches and tight glacial ambient-textured motives overhead. Furthermore, Fugue State is an example of mixing up electro-induced torrents with indie aesthetics. It is relaxing and sophisticated, common and strange, cozy and brsitled, local and far-away at the same time. One spectacular track is dedicated to Yuri Gagarin, the first man who had been up there in outer space. In  a word, I will not be wrong by naming this whole as masterpiece.

Tomsk IDM Composers - Avalon Glow (2012)

9.1

/Dubstep, Experimental techno, IDM, Witch house, Crossover, Experimental electronica, Grime, Hip-hop/

Comment: this set of 4 tracks at the length of over 17 minutes provide either the facets of deviated hip-hop/grime music or dazed IDM/experimental techno outlets. More detailedly, the project do sketch bubbling rhythm tentacles and blissful plateaus and gloomy yet somehow amusing vocal lines. Of course, at the moment such kind of sound represented by the group is to be considered to have lots of intersections with the vibes of such murky styles as witch house and dubstep as well.

8.5

/Post-rock, Epic, Experimental rock, Indie rock, Alternative pop/rock/

Comment: a massive and winsome rock blowup from Caracas, Venezuela. As regarding the concept of die-hard post-rock whenever you may admit that it is business as usual because of being compiled of a bunch of guitar layers, penetrating guitar gears, punching drums, which is spiced up with some electronica inbetween it. Let`s take a ride from the slope of a mountain over to the peak of the mountain and thereafter let`s do contrariwise. Indeed, some guitars are bigger than others.

Tree, Bosier - Hometown EP (2011)

/Nu jazz, Chilltronica, Trip-hop, Downtempo, Psychedelic, Mood music, Post-rock, Downbeat, Cinematic, Crossover, Dub/

Comment: this is a picturesque output consisting mainly of sunshine-filled chill out-ish electronica, trip-hop drops, dub vibrations, and cinematic (nu-) jazz and at times deep, longing motifs. By the way, before it this Russian-based artist had released an album, called as Motion Picture Soundtrack (2010, Mimonot). However, the second track Seconds Before Awakening (feat. Futuredub) displays even the grits of post-rock-visaged guitar waves and oriental flute whiffs.
