Comment: The Rabbits` third outing on WM Recordings is playful and sardonic, entertaining and poignant at the same time. I have no understanding why such sort of music does not make up music charts because in fact it does have everything. Obviously it is way too dizzy for masses and all those influencers, opinion leaders and bosses of music labels who wish the world would be full of "of chickeny softness” while the world need heroes instead of it. The 9-notch outing was issued in 2008 yet it would predict what used to happen today when bloody political correctness embraces all within a society. I do not think that all sort of the so-called liberal activists with gleaming eyes could change world into a better place. I guess their pretension to make it is filled in with half-truths, faulty assumptions and partial knowledges while pretending to be idols by their public ambitions. More profoundly, one of the consequences is that young people are eunuchised by it and locked in porn sites. In truth, it is ridiculous to see all of that for a critical bystander. Do you think is it possible to change someone into a god who is a sort of animal (even if he/she does not recognize it) and headed by drives and subjugated to natural laws? Of course, it is the premise for so-called divine comedy. I do not believe in revolutions anymore, I believe in art and music and an organic way of living instead of it. I believe in a sort of patchwork through music which is represented over there – from dadaist outbursts and noise/fuzz pop spans to slightly pop-oriented developments and astounding blissful cinematic undulations and ork-pop quests. And the most important point – there is up freedom one could not find out from a recent society anymore.

Comment: one of the first netlabels I was honoured to meet was Test Tube. It might be the first impression of mine was highly piebald about the netlabel/webaudio scene and because of that I could not evaluate any single netlabel properly. However, by listening to the discography of Test Tube back now it is being a highly pleasant quality time. Brisbane, Australia-based Tidy Kid`s One Week With My Casio can be considered rather an unusual example within the discography due to providing no spot upon lush experimental/ambient music but instead of it experimenting with sounds and creating poppy songs on his own cheap Casio synthesizer. By the way, I have also a fancy Casio synth, a small monophonic Casio SA-1, my cordial relation with it has been lasting since 2000. Musically this 6-track issue is a great one by sharing expressive touch between sonic experiments, poppy song structures, and moody feeling hovering above it. From obscure lo-fi flickers and dreamy indie electronic patches to convulsive, glitched-out broken beat madness, littered electro pop and interrupted yet somehow catchy songwriting. By the way, the 6-track outing was also released as a tape release on the German imprint Froggi Records. Astounding lo-fi electronica.

Comment: Jörg Schuster (aka Lufth, and Sensual Physics) is an artist and a designer of graphics for computer software from Dortmund, Germany. He can be considered a main domestic artist within an acknowledged imprint called Thinner. In fact, Germany can be considered home for many outstanding dub and minimal techno labels and one of such cornerstones is certainly Thinner. One can just conclude from it the artist should be worthwhile. This 8-track outing is as emotive as it is hypnotic. The first adjective does not exclude the latter, and vice versa. The vibes just come in, starting to wobble around one`s head and soul and then keep mutating slowly, almost invisibly into something else. The format is mainly restricted with techno, dub, and atmospheric and nocturnal electronic developments yet at times one may perceive something punctual and iterative therefore creating a bridge between the aforementioned styles and krautrock. There is even up one track by employing exquisite vibraphone sounds and thereby resembling a bit of Tortoise. At times dub rhythms are replaced by more bold steps (proto-dubstep?) yet preserving its wobbly feel. Just listen to it, just feel the touch of it.

Comment: this 4-track outing (clocking in at a 12-minute) is a dodge into the discography of Portuguese imprint Cakes And Tapes Records from the year of 2010 which still did reflect upon the influence of the so-called New Weird movement and on the other side it goes even more backward in time to such experimental psychedelic rock combos as Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and glittering sunshine pop and doo wop harmonies from the 60s. In the first place, those occasionally loaded effervescent vocal appearances and fast changes in mood and structure remind of Panda Bear and Animal Collective and it is a blissful reverberation over the place by the Seattle-based combo. Strumming guitars and shuffly drumming are backed up by artsy electronics and woodwind instruments. And as we would see 4-5 years later Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper was produced by Sonic Boom. In a word, it is a decent issue which is very worth to be remembered even 9 years after the release. It is for your own sake to enjoy a true example of beauty in the middle of a vanity fair and chaos.

Comment: Desired is a beloved artist from Yekaterinburg, Russia whose as you can see has a solid follow-up at Bandcamp, and Lastfm. Undoubtedly Lovestory is a cornerstone of his success where different styles are synthesised either into new ones or revamped into modern ones. More profoundly, he employs much from the Japan scene, especially such sort of music which in turn is strongly influenced by Western pop music, such styles as shibuya-kei, and more generic J-pop. Catchy hooks through bubbling melodies and blissful harmonies and gentle yet compelling funky rhythms and some witty dialogues create a coherent upbeat release. It reminds me of a little bit of a shiny vibe which can be found from the end-70s and beginning-80s Soviet Union-era which was neither pathetic nor embarrassing like most of popular music which had come from the devastating political and cultural monster. The glittering 9-track outing is a part within the discography of Business Casual.

Comment: some artists come to stay, some artists come to disappear forever. Appalachian Falls seems to be a representative of the latter version. One can find out very austere information about him/her (he/she is called as austerely as I) traces in music. However, GrimGrimAntonym consists of two long-running compositions in the vein of ambient and drone mixed powerful appearance. More profoundly, it is represented with the texture of ambient music and the inner, propulsive impulse of drone music by employing an array of distortion pedals and tape machines. The music is recorded during a live session which used to slowly build up in the manner of post-rock through massive crescendos and subsequent purgative fadeouts. The enchanting aural experience is a part of the discography of Resting Bell, a well-recognized German imprint (unfortunately its mission has come to an ending). That`s great indeed.

Comment: there is quite much to say about this 16-piece whole. In other words, one can write a solid review in alphabetic characters about it. The artist created the music on DIY modules built up by himself. It consists of two parts – three and four-voice interventions, and polymorphic vivisections. By its mood it is at times tumultuous due to intense noisy droning and whimsical glitched-out whirlpools, at times it used to fade away due to those oblivious guitar patterns being somewhere in the remote background. At times the aforementioned parts will fuse with one another or being the transgressive threshold for the other part. In fact, it is even more versatile than the full title of this album hints at it. It reminds me of my own musical doings while manipulating on my sampler Yamaha – by extracting sounds into very small units and moving them back and forth and searching for proper ones. In principle, it is nothing more or less than just (shape)shifting austere sonic waves and just bare signals to align them with one`s cerebral interface. Some magniloquent sort of improvised noise by its method and output. At times it chimes like a real, spirited embodiment of electricity (at QuadNand vierstimmig). By the way, I tagged the album partly as DIY, and lo-fi. Of course, it is the discussion point of considering any sort of electronic music as somehow lo-fi, or DIY. May it be a bit tautological? Pop-inflected music can be more clearly handled as hi-fi and lo-fi. The overcoming outing is a part of the discography of Germany-based imprint Der Kleine Grüne Würfel.

Comment: Mathieu Lamontage is an artist of French-Canadian ancestry from the province of Quebec, Canada who is also being known as Arbee. In fact, he is obviously being better known due to the nom de plume due to having it preceded to writing music under his own personal name. What may be the main difference between Mathieu Lamontage and Arbee? His oeuvre being written under his own name is evidently more concentrated on ambient and drone sounds with intention to create more monumental works – by listening to this 3-track outing one can hear either fragmented or segmented fractals related to a majestically sweeping whole which could be considered a representative of those immense snow fields at northern part of Quebec, a good plateau for riding on snowmobile while being surrounded by the overcoming void and wind. Indeed, it is a beatific perspective being separated off the suffocating civilisation. Of course, such picturesque sort of descriptions cannot be eradicated from my personal memory due to experiencing another Quebecer Tim Hecker`s early albums, especially Radio Amor which is some kind of quintessence of the Northern Hemisphere being described through audible artificial frequencies. The blissful glimpse is a part of the discography of Audio Gourmet.

Comment: this set of 9 pieces of electronic tracks is as playful and fulfilled as one solid electronic and club dance mixed issue can be. Undoubtedly Erich Schall (he is being a member of such combo as Drehkommando) has been an experienced creator of sounds since the beginning of the 10s. Lots of different roundabouts can be met over there – from hypnotic techno and intense jungle rhythms to more dynamic and cinematic house vibes and just laid-back electronic explorations. At times stylistic borders within some tracks will be hazed. Yeah, the favourite of mine is the title track – yeah, it is a superb house propulsion, however, all the tracks are fine factures of tempo and stepwise changes. The most experimental track is obviously Broken Water where a downtempo/modern classical motif plays against the wall of white noise. The issue with intriguing name (weightlifting on ice) is a part of the discography of a Cologne, Germany-based imprint, Der Kleine Grüne Würfel.

Comment: although I have criticized the so-called nugaze artists I have to admit while listening to these artists I like their music. However, thereafter I forgot what I had been listening because there is a little to be evaluated on its own. Of course, there have been some artists and some albums I used to bring once in a while. For instance, Dykehouse`s Midrange (2004, Ghostly International), and Sereena Maneesh`s self-titled debut album (2005, HoneyMilk). One can find out elements from both of these albums on this Seattle, US-based artist. Dykehouse`s dance-appealed electronic grooves and Sereena Maneesh`s noisy yet truly beatific impulses. Furthermore, beatific because of being noisy first of all. From the first seconds and glimpses at the cover print and lyrics the 12-track is as provocative as suggestive as mind-blowing. Are these sexy dreams or dreamy sex? All this theme to be set aside – to move away from the carnal one to a heaven one – can also hear cinematic orchestrations. I like Erik Blood is being adept to float off from obvious comparisons with My Bloody Valentine, and other shoegaze juggernauts. His musical cognition seems to be a bit different. In a word, it can be considered a nugaze masterpiece.

Comment: the artist's 11-track outing is intense through different sonic aspects and creative playfulness. It starts off and at times comes back to a reverberant droning as if trudging through muddy soil, at times it is based on galvanized guitar playing and improvisations, at times providing majestic inclinations through ambient music, and most surprisingly, through a stupendously suggestive dream pop/chillwave-esque ray through its bottomless haziness. Although the latter element is represented as bare as a glimpse it will make up a contrast in one's mind and memory. Slightly simple iterative motives are mingled with more complicated endeavours and transgressive progressions. There is no premature fixing of style at all. With purpose to show this release as a true lavish one it should not be misunderstood as a superficial approach. All those droning facets create a milieu and impression as something truly obsessive. Indeed, we need it within and through music.

Comment: Joe Wozny and Dave Merson Hess spawned the idea to get together in music while having a strike as mattress sellers in Houston. As musicians they both did have a base from earlier times and therefore one should not surprise at all while hearing an adept and stylistically wide result. They play an impressive range of instruments on the 10-track debut album. From immersive acoustic guitar playing and epic Americana and ennobling drone rock progressions to lo-fi poppy electronic and convulsive kraut glimpses it can be considered their drive to come out and fulfill their need for new music. The solid outing is a bit in the discography of Reverse Engine.

Comment: musically it is quite hard to assume what sort of music used to be predominant over this 13-notch issue (credited as a debit mixtape by a Manchester, UK-based artist). As contemporary as it used to be it embraces lots of heavy beats (or steps), rattling and clanging, and piercing electro developments. As if a reflection upon the legacy of illegal music events what did happen in abandoned warehouses approximately 30 years ago and on the other side it is a symptom of the contemporary human being being inseparably related to artificial intelligence around her/him. The latter side is expressed through a highly determined, machine-drenched technical shell where every part of the whole seem to be controlled. Quite dystopic yet appealing ambience to be created rather than providing some relaxation instead of it. Indeed, oxygen molecules are eradicated. By another explanation it is just a masochistic pleasure being in accordance with the nature of the human being to move toward its technical collapse. Who could save us against ourselves?

Comment: this swarm of 12 tracks comes out of Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia and is released on a Ukraine-based record, Nexsound. Roman Kutnov's expressive blend of indie, glitched-out and cut-up electronic music and epic post-rock flickers may make your day already in the morning. Paradoxically it chimes in an organic, even rustic way as if depicting someone to trudge somewhere in the forest and being accompanied by extraterrestrial humanoids atop. A swarm of radio signals is worked off by a decent carpet of different sorts of plants, moss and lichen. Deus ex machina. Forests, seas and mountains are our one and the only cathedrals and all the artificial is inferior in comparison to it. Comment: it is a huge, 41-track 2 disc-compilation by a Baltimore, US-based artist CM aka Creative Radio who can be considered a resident on an imprint called blocSonic due to a shitloads of releases and collaborative acts by him over there. Under the recent name C da 76er it is his debut outing. Despite of providing 41 tracks in total it clocks in an 80 minute because most of the compositions are considered just snippets. On the other side, a listener probably is not tempted to tear off any single track from the whole. Mostly it is an instrumental case though his instrumental spectre used to extend over many styles and phenomena though the main staple is pinpointed on hip-hop/rap. These snippets are usually entitled due to the instrument or attitude being predominant within the course. Lyrics are mostly over there to convey his ideas about producing the music (for instance, by employing a Casio keyboard). Since Flying Lotus appeared on the music scene (especially with Cosmogramma (2010, Warp)) (experimental) hip-hop got popularized otherwise than before and has been changed significantly. Lots of skiddy lo-fi and DIY aesthetics-ridden elements are mingled within the whole. All in all, the whole is interesting though it is not as favourable as his issues under the nom de plume Creative (Radio) because it is like listening and seeing a kitchen side to produce music. The final product used to be more interesting than just listening to the middle, instrumental parts of it. A bit of skeleton-alike.

Comment: oh yeah, that's cool. Rome, Italy-born Jacques Malchance's sophomoric release is really cool, you can feel a real life behind these more or less twisted yet velvety synths and drum machines because all 10 tracks are performed and recorded live in a studio in Liverpool, UK. It is for one's soul and body, furthermore, it integrates the both dimensions of your body. I would like to imagine of how the artist used to rush behind the machines by manipulating hastily yet adeptly with knobs, keys and pads. Such a sort of sonic wizardry is being so charming. It is an example of how machines can be humane, at least so much as humane as a human being could be because the final result indicates you are going to be a better human being after the listening of it. One can hear soul, nu jazz, and yacht pop influenced synth-pop over there. At times more aggressive electro and breakbeat-induced rhythms will switch on to verify on the rule of an exception confirms a rule. In a word, it is a new pace of synth-pop over there having just a little in common with the classical subgenre. And it is even more a case regarding the creating year of 2007. Of course, we as human beings have been cyborgs for a while and today we create and are surrounded by a relatively dry autotune rap/trap shit which is a quite obtuse stuff. However, Malchance's sound is exuberant and positively magniloquent. The catchy soulful and dance-appealed outing is a bit in the discography of Upitup.

Comment: It is said that sit down, close your eyes, listen to the mountain's birth, listen them rising, remain there forever. Indeed, it is a fine introduction by their French imprint Abyssa into this 12-track issue where silence, as it is said, is the most beautiful instrument. Indeed, nature is something unique and monumental and an artist's ambition to relate to it through his/her oeuvre it could be an immense challenge in any cases. I am convinced that an artist's fancy to record natural sounds to convey them to other people with intention to bring nature to their apartment through loudspeakers it used to be a naive, fallible idea. Because nature is an environment with an innumerable amount of sounds, perceptions and dimensions which all together establish a singular, unrepeatable phenomenon. Of course, if an artist's purpose is closely related to mix it with artificial sounds and subsequently synthesise something transgressive then I am going to say yes. This album is the latter case. This set of a 39 minute is an austere and minimal glimpse into the heart of an electronic genre where the basic algorithms are not unveiled only but also magnified in front of us. The examples are fine – one can hear swaying drones and agitated ambient shards and minimally pulsating techno vibes and roughly droning impulses.

Comment: Psychotic Aliens is a collective based on noise, improvisation and the absolute lack of foreseeable schemes. Its members vary according to the disposition of the day, the mood of the continent and the astral possibilities. And the title can be translated as Dissolution Of Everything. However, in this case it is a positive case because it does result positively rather than providing adverse outputs. Resulting in arts used to be almost always a positive outcome with purgative and relieving side effects. And just shedding a glimpse upon the cover print one is going to understand what they mean. Lots of distracted noisy shards and rusty echoes, accidental guitar chords and cheap synth-based roundabouts. At times it chimes as if coming from a rehearsal room being dwelled by lunatics who like to play psychedelic noise and garage rock with the seeds of hard rock. It is like a lo-fi/demo version of Tago Mago. This 9-track issue is a part of the discography of Cieliro Diystro.

Comment: within the blog I have commented on such Fortadelis` albums as Overdub Session [Jazzed Up], and Stimulus (2017), although it is just a little drop within a bigger pound. If you are going to visit the Croatian artist`s Jamendo site then you will find nearby 20 issues over there. Cinematique as the title hints itself at it might be about a film score or at least to be inspired by its possible concept and on the other side the purpose of it may be to create something velvety and moody for the soul of a listener. Thirdly, a soundtrack could be thought either for a real film score or a conceivable one. In fact, Fortadelis` 7-track issue embraces all the aforementioned intentions and purposes to create a fascinating listening experience due to providing majestic and fantasy-ridden journeys to sweep around one`s deepest imagination-bound spheres. Yeah, it makes sense via its halcyon yet arcane arcs where the grass will be ever greener and the heaven more blue. Indeed, it is an irritating hyper-reality. Its purpose is not to establish something groovy and dandyish on its own but just to coil inside its deeper values.

Comment: Ataque Escampe did have released their first releases on the imprint A Regueifa Plataforma which had been an outlet for musicians singing in Galician, a local language in Spain having at least as much similarity to Portuguese as to Spanish/Castilian. As much as I have understood A vida dos Animais is their last issue embracing so far unpublished, demo and compilations-related tracks from the years 2012-2018. Musically it is as transgressive as they are linguistically (they sing in English as well). Lots of experiments within the genre of indie/alt-folk with melodies, timbres and harmonies. Fortunately all these experiments are finely balanced with the acceptance of beauty oozing out from these chords. By their attitude they remind of Wilco by incorporating many elements into the embodiment of folk music. For example, at excellent Evita one can immerse in an enchanting noise pop/folk crossover. Lots of electricity, sweat and desire could you find out from there. Maycar is a nice cover of a classic Motown track. Musica Veliz is as cinematic as it is thoroughly dreamy. It is a fine example of how to create and convey a mood. Undoubtedly a combo which deserves more attention.

Comment: with regard to the title and first of all to the nature of music it is a very unusual case of folk music. It is like an example of folk music which were a more conventional case if European nations would have rejected Christianity and gotten overwhelming power from their gentile roots. Like their mighty precursors Vikings and Celtic tribes having power to fight like berserks and having much in common with Nature which is a true face of God. Christianity is a bloody occult of the guilt. The more you are the so-called civilised the more you think of yourself to be sophisticated the more you used to be more declined and rotten in reality. This bunch of 7 tracks is something getting its frenzied power from the remote past. Of course, any kind of life used to provide some sort of interruptions and disturbed visions yet the main course of this thing is right. Additionally to neofolk and dark folk threads one gets impressed by lo-fi approach and free form psychedelic folk numbers a la Sun City Girls. Old Norse Mara was the artist's debut outing released on Sirona-Records, and Chaos Of The Stars.

Comment: there is no foreplay into the core of this 13-notch issue being released live at WFMU. Post-hardcore, screamo and noise rock influenced intense noodling based on angular guitars, screeching vocals, blasts of the drumming and discordant synth tweaks to present all that stuff in a repetitively overcoming manner. All of that reminds me of a resurrection of the No Wave movement a bit more than 10 years ago through such projects as Black Dice, Lightning Bolt, Black Pus, USAISAMONSTER, Hella. One can hear more clear moments varied by horrified flashbacks and decays of the mind. All but not least I am happy Free Music Archive and much amazing music got saved by another yet different platform.

Comment: exactly 10 years ago on 24th of January 2009 I started with Recent Music Heroes by commenting on the Swedish artist leafes` In The Mountains Belly (Redstarcommunity). It has been a wonderful time and sort of music which has been produced by Miguel A. García aka Xedh has been one of the main fares over there. Both by its concept and music threads it is something very suitable to my personal preferences. It is a sublime shadow play between silence and noise, between caressing and powerful propulsion, however, having always had an ominous posture and enchanting tension within the sound due to building up slowly by using dodges into illbient and glitched-out music. It embodies me the nature of our life on Earth that all used to change, all used to disappear, all used to die, and then, all used to born again. During the aforementioned span of 10 years the innumerable bunch of people has passed away, a lot of arts has been created, a lot of shit has been produced, a lot of imprints has been disappeared and born again. This mind-blowing 3-track issue is a part of the discography of Polish imprint Far From Showbiz.
