Ohio nelik TNL on tagasi - kolmandat korda ehk neljas reliis on tõsiasi. Kuulates nende uue üllitise mitmekesisust, ning suhestades seda eelnevatega, mõtlesin esmakordselt nende nime võimalikele osutustele - millele küll võiks viidata puu ilma lehtedeta (suhestudes lehise puuga)? Kas võib olla, et tähenduslikkus ja osutus rock-kehandile on mingil moel fikseerimata, või siis - mis laadi on see fikseeritus? On`s see indie, punk, proge, art-rock või post-rock? Eklektorokk? Mida kõike siit leida ei või - stranglerslikke barokilikke sündihelisid, antlerslikku psühhedeelset indie-proget, GY!BE-likku crescendo-ihalust, victorialegrandilikku hüpnootilist laulumaneeri ja beachhouse`ilikku sünkjat poppi - mis kõik muideks algas a capellaliku doo wop`iga. Olulisim on, et helikompott tervikuna hüpleb, ringleb, lööb - teisisõnu, funktsioneerib täies ulatuses. Lõpetuseks - TNL on tõepoolest tagasi - pärast eelmise albumi "Peer Pressure/Mass Euphoria" suhtelist nõrkust on saavutatud kahe esimese üllitise tase, võib-olla enamatki. Siinkirjutajal on nende pärast igatahes väga hea meel.

A quartet from Ohio is back for the fourth time. Listening to and concerning on the diversity of issues, and in conjunction with their previous ones it makes me a bit baffled. Is the new one a kind of indie, punk, progressive rock, art-rock, or post-rock? Might it be an example of eclecto-rock, though? What sort of elements we are used to find from here at all - The Stranglers-alike baroque synth themes, the lines of psychedelic prog indie, some powerful desire toward massive crescendos, gloomy and hypnotic song mannerism reminiscent of Victoria Legrand`s touch, even doo wop through a capella is represented here, with which all of this started in the very beginning actually. However, the whole one does whirl in a stylistic turmoil. Finally, TNL has returned indeed - after the previous album Peer Pressure/Mass Euphoria which showcased some comparative weaknesses on the level achieved by the first two releases, and perhaps even more. Anyway, after all I am very happy about them.
