[Teaser of the day] Dreamphish - The Flow

Jari Pitkänen - Sirin (2012)

9.4

/Ambient, Soundscapes, Ambient drone, Avant-industrial, Dark ambient, Abstract/

Comment: Jari Pitkänen`s 2-track issue used to exhibit the strong interaction between glacial ambient and billowy drone chords filled in with more or less caustic, industrial-tinged oscillations and more abstract susurruses. In a word, the result is expressive and convincing, however, searching for balance between explorative and affective elements. There can be drawn parallels upon the likes of Blues for spacegirl, Ars Sonor & Meklabor, Caustic Reverie, slept., Kirill Platonkin.

Cocolixe - Doméstico EP (2012)

9.3

/Electronic pop, Dub, Krautrock, Funk, Alternative, Poptronica, Alternative dance, Glo-fi, Indie dance/

Comment: the Uruguayian artist Fabián D'alesio aka Cocolixe`s brand new one is a mesmeric drift between indie/krautrock/chillwave and electronic rhythmic shuffles. Indeed, imagine Neu! meets modern Neu! (Ladytron, Fujiya & Miyagi, Stereolab, for instance) driven by obsessive propulsions and deliberate static elements abovestairs. On the other side, the ending track Swing Low gives a damn for sliced funk gears and acidic dub vibes. In conclusion, similarly to Cocolixe`s previous issues this one is graceful and charming full of serotonine-induced turns and suggestive harmonies.

Esoteric Sob - Nostalgia (2012)

9.3

/Modern classical, IDM, Downtempo, Electronic pop, Neoclassical, Chilltronica, Mood music/

Comment: Esoteric Sob is the nom de plume of John Trifonopoulos, an electronic music artist from Greece. His 9-piece issue is an evocative blend of doleful chilltronic/downtempo progressions, bleak glitch-y dark ambient and neoclassical soundscapes, ethereal modern classical domains, silenful IDM-esque beats. Indeed, the whole sounds like a muffled dirge for somewhat or someone lost or buried recently, respectively. However, all these aforementioned sonic elements used to depict realms and sections inside the human being`s soul and mind. The central track is Everyday Stories featuring Karra Russell in charge of vocal delivery. Very good.
