Brick Mower - Box Turtle flexi 7 (2010)

9.3

/Indie punk, Psychedelic rock, Art punk, Acid rock, Power pop, Alternative rock/

Comment: there is up a couple of tracks by Keansburg, New Brunswick-based combo Brick Mower (great name indeed) who do fuse incisive, a little bit acidic power pop propulsions and suggestive punk mixed indie aesthetics into a crafty, poignant whole. In a word, it is an instance of art punk, more profoundly, a way of how punk should be produced and performed.

Kago - Boonus EP (2012)

8.8

/Alt-folk, Punk folk, Singer-songwriter, Indie folk, Folk indie, New Weird Estonia/

Comment: Kago is Lauri Sommer (born in 1973), an Estonian poet, writer, and musician who has been releasing albums since 2003 on a small Estonian independent (folk, lo-fi, indie, experimental) label, called Õunaviks since 2003. Prior to Kago, LS had involved in various dada, ethnic, experimental and punk-defined groups. However, Ibipaio is the fifth issue of him which additionally to the physical format does include a small mp3 compilation of bucolic songs supplemented with pristine guitar handling, some treated distortions around it, though, the opening track is up at the base of the vintage chords of a keyboard. The lyrics above it used to be melancholic and contemplative ones seamlessly interlaced with surrealistic turns and eminences. The only shortage is related to the unit`s shortness. However, if you would like to enjoy the aesthetics of Kago forward while having no money or there are some reasons otherwise not to posess the main album then you could download Kago`s third album Monumentalnõi Holodilnik (2007) or his dadaistic side project (with Villem Valme) Tuljak`s Soos must vöö (2006) at the Records site.

Fabian Racca - t-errormachine (2012)

9.0

/Drone, Minimal, Abstract, Noise, Avant-garde, Experimentalism/

Comment: this batch of 3 compositions does expose lush-textured steamrolling drones filled in with minimal phase changes, discrete burning and tickling pulsations beneath the core. However, onward this silence-near situation will be ruptured with a series of harsh metallic eruptions and mesmeric shuffles and overdriving effects and vowel-based interventions. In a word, these errors do incur impressive results recommended for any serious adherent involved in experimental music. Moreover, the errors are part of our life and if these errors are concerted in an accurate way the outcome can be a glittering deal by any means.
