Strad - Post-Apocalyptic Beats (2008)

9.7

/Breaks, Cinematic, Urban music, Acid, Experimental electronica, Dubstep, Trap/

Comment: by watching the title of an album by Strad you can suppose the content of it is about dystopic industrial-filled rustles and hisses. However, in fact, it used to move along this premiss and sometimes not as well. Indeed, it contains a loads of aggressive synth gears, compelling rhythmic metrics, and expressive noises, yet, on the other side Strad takes on cinematic and developments full of opalescent dreams and tremendous desire for reaching cosmic territories and heavy reveries. The issue seems to be laid down somewhere in between a cutting edge-y approach and a more crowd appealing exploration. By the way, this 13-track album can be considered a precursor for Flying Lotus`Cosmogamma issued in 2010 (Warp Records). In a word, it is a superb yet still unsung release.

Kisszanto - Surrealism On Tape (2011)

8.5

/Trip-hop, Hip-hop, Downtempo, Sampledelic, Cut and paste, Lo-fi, Mood music, DIY/

Comment: Kisszanto is a producer and DJ from Hungary whose 11-track album Surrealism On Tape used to soothe and bounce simultaneously. Indeed, it is backed up by a wide array of rhythm sequences veering away from slow-natured breaks and hip-hop-alike patterns to more tumultuous jungle/dnb-relied propulsions. All of that is bruished against the sort of homemade aesthetics. Of course, the listener can feel him/herself a little bit confused because there is difference between the title and the content of the album, though, the result is enough enjoyable on its own (built upon repetitive structures, looptronic aesthetics). No doubt, such kind of music seems to be highly influenced by the oeuvres of Flying Lotus.

Bulimic Orgy & Mile - Reverse Of the Void LP (2012)

9.4

/Trip-hop, Sampledelic, Downtempo, Shoegazetronica, Cut and paste, Experimental electronica/

Comment: Bulimic Orgy is a duo from Riga, Latvia who used to fuse the sequences of slow-paced beats and gleaming, sampledelic electronica/trip-hop into a fabulous, organic whole. Now and then it used to grow into a kind of looming reminiscent more of shoegaze-loaded electronica though it used to be laidback frequently as well. However, it is an unforgettable issue because of involving lots of full and half-brushed shades, picturesque effects, and exulting moods.

Mizontiq - A Room Without Mirrors (2012)

/Trip-hop, Cinematic, Instrumental hip-hop, Fusion, Nu Jazz, Big beat, Crossover/

Comment
: Mizontiq is a producer from Russia who fuses smoky, slightly dark-hued flickers with angular slo-mo cadences. His sound is already compared with Amon Tobin, Portishead, Massive Attack, and DJ Krush, of course, being done from different corners of a room. All these brooding sounds and creepy paces are wrapped up in vinyl-induced crackles and orchestrated soaring. Furthermore, on some tracks Mizontiq gets involved in the realms of heavy beats tightly blended with galvanized chords of guitars conjuring up fusion-alike sensitivity. In a nutshell, the result is astonishing and solid. ARWM is the third release if him, a follow-up to Tranquilmovie EP; Timeless Season LP). This 15-track album is published under the Bulgarian cult label Dusted Wax Kingdom.
