ZhangJW - A.D.S.R - Linkage (2008)

9.0

/Downtempo, Breaks, Cinematic, Chill out, IDM, Experimental electronica/

Comment: this set of 3 tracks comes out from Beijing, China. ZhangJW is the musician who is known due to establishment of the Bypass Records, a label created for representation of different kind of electronic music and broken beats. His own set has been managed in a way to fuse cinematic, laidback rhythms with some concrete sounds and lush ambient textures.

Anno Bergmann - Dark Diskette (2012)

9.2

/Electronic pop, Electro-rock, Art pop, Downtempo, Alternative, Indie soul/

Comment: mostly throughout the course this 9-piece set can be generalized for an example of subtle indie soul which originates from Cologne, Germany. More concretely, AB mixes up those wobbly vibrations and ideas with suggestive electronic rhythms, lush layers and ticklingly autotuned vocals which sometimes are more rock-oriented and uplifting, at times more contemplative and sensitive. The only exceptions are a genunine improvised rock-induced glimpse and glacial downtempo-esque appearance presented in the second part of the album.

Argo Vals - Hallitussilmad (2011)

9.5

/Art pop, Experimental rock, Dream pop, Alternative/

Comment: Argo Vals is a young educated musician from Ahja, Põlva County, Estonia who is probably best known due to his participation in such groups as Viljandi Guitar Trio, and Talamak. However, his 2-track issue is a fascinating one oozing out exhausting dreams and magic dust through the relation based on in between sprawling guitar arrangements and encircling sonic effects. It reminds a little bit of Kaseke, an Estonian fusion/jazz rock band having basically been active in the first period of 80s, and some cloudless motives popped out from many Soviet-period cartoons.

Cambriana - House of Tolerance (2012)

9.0

/Indie pop, Electronic pop, Alternative, Brass pop, Baroque pop, Soul/

Comment: there are presented 10 refined pop songs by Luis Calil who hails from Brazil being apparently inspired by orchestrated indie pop, brass-tinged explorations, 80s new wave artists` synthesized aesthetics, charming soul pop and Phil Spector`s wall of sound. By considering it more intriguingly this might sound like a decent child of A-ha, The Divine Comedy, and Jens Lekman.
