Nicolas Joseph Roncea - Impossible Roncea EP (2012)
9.4
/Indie folk, New Weird Italy, Psych-folk, Acid folk, Art folk, Chamber folk, Singer-songwriter, DIY, Dream folk, Folk indie/
Comment: there is a handful of tracks spreaded out over 19 minutes. The affective, mostly dreamy vocal side on it is interlaced with sublime sonic manipulations-electronic effects and exciting guitar fingerpicks/and arpeggios and well composed guitar riffs. Emotionally it is rather depressive than soothing, though some parts on it sound more relieving due to their orchestrated magic dust. In any cases, Roncea (born in 1987) can be compared with such Italian experimental/indie folk musicians as (Carlo) Barbagallo, Distape, Artwood, Emme, Nick Rivera, Winstonmcnamara, and Menion.
Jabsasonic - Kupittaa Dub (2001)
9.5
/Dub, Post rock, Epic, Art rock, Crossover, Experimental rock/
Comment: these 228 seconds are up there to instigate the dreams of the listener through subtle dub rhythms and spacious, symphonic guitar magnitudes. Art rock/post rock meets Jamaica, though, the composition is inspired by the environment of the Kupittaa railway station. Behind the project is Jarmo Lundgren, the musician/rhythm guitar player from Finland. Delicious and catchy.

Hooves - Minimus EP (2012)
9.4
/Shoegazetronica, Experimental indie, Americana, Free folk, Poptronica, Art pop, Chillwave, Electronic pop, Glo-fi/
Comment: undoubtedly this set of 4 tracks is an intriguing one created by Daniel Kolpin from New York, USA. He merges modern sonic tendencies into a pleasing whole with the quite illustrating name. Blissed-out synths are mixed up with anthemic vocal lines, catchy bass sequences, and chiming guitar-based choppiness. It embraces masterfully the parts from such styles as Americana, NWA, glo-fi/chillwave, shoegaze, poptronica, and even exotica pop. More concretely, there can be drawn parallels upon the likes of Monster Rally, Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors, Youarehere, Grizzly Bear, Bilinda Butchers etc. Kolpin`s music used to invigorate and calm down simultaneously. Eminent work by any means.
htrspltn - All Your Flowers Have Blossomed (2012)
9.3
/Ambient techno, Experimental electronica, Avant-electronica, Downbeat/
Comment: this batch of 8 tracks comes out from Ulan-Ude, Siberia, Russia which stylistically might be tagged as cosmic electronic disco because it is made up of reversed vocal bits, atmospheric gliding, a little glowering thudding, however, all these elements are interlaced with each other in an organic way (sometimes the artist exploits concrete sounds either). In a word, all these vibrations used to be in full swing being frequently abstract and emotive at the same time.

PAS - Early Works (2012)
9.2
/Noise rock, Psychedelia, Psych-rock, Avant-rock, Improvised music, Krautrock, No Wave, Avant-garde, Experimental rock/
Comment: this handful of pieces is an instance of knee-deep psychedelia and noise full of resounding loops, lush noise walls, shrieking and buffoonish vibes, beeping barge signals and other weird and abstract, mainly repetition-heavy sonic patterns. At times it sounds like a group originating from the No Wave scene (a la Suicide), at times like an ensemble which does have similarities with the Japanese noise/psychedelia scene (a la Acid Mothers Temple), at times like a krautrock or improvised noise ensemble. In a word, it is a sort of trance chiming somehow in a majestic way.
