[Teaser of the day] Spy Club - Rose Blood
w02f – 01 (2013)
/Ambient drone,
Experimentalism, Glitch ambient, Avant-garde, Noise, Abstract, Ambient/
Comment: this 8-track
album is an amazing listening experience created by Sankt Peterburg, Russia
based producer Alexandr Remington. Those tracks used to chime like glimpses
coming out from outer space to reflect the past which is actually future for us
on Earth. Of course, his soundscapes remind me of Tim Hecker`s early
masterpieces threaded with glitched out white noise impulses and washed out
with overwhelming hisses frequently. Remington`s music is a fine example of how
to amplify low frequencies to the next level. Although all these tracks are
very long-running ones these will seamlessly change their shapes and
organically veer into other Galaxies. In a word, it is an otherworldly
mesmerizing experience.
Walt Thisney – Prangsta (2014)
/Electro-rock, Alternative
dance, Big beat, Hip-hop, Crossover, Ambient trance, Leftfield/
Comment: Walt Thisney`s
concept seems to be a huge melting pot to use it for to get a vast mixed but
delicious sonic cake. Prangsta presents
powerful electro and static soaked indie tendencies to mix them tightly with
bouncy hip-hop rhythms, glistening big beat cadences and sheeny ambient trance
propulsions, however, being always tongue-in-cheek. All in all, this was my
first meeting with this project and undoubtedly not being the farewell one
(there are at least a dozen of issues by them at Bandcamp).
fuyuru0 – Anemone (2012)
/Modern classical, IDM, Glitchtronica,
Noise, Experimental electronica, Remix/
Comment: fuyuru0`s 9-track issue is a mix of
glitch noises and electronic progressions which are frequently accompanied with
classical music glimpses and mildly intense sonic effects. More concretely,
there are up lots of weird pitched sonic bits, microtonal rhythms, delicate
noise scattering and uncanny vowel undertakings swaying through high and low
frequency filters here and there. It does not mean at all these elements are
somehow raspy and painful to the ear. These compositions used to be emotive and
sensitive due to its contrasty sides at its core. Icicle is an outstanding track due to sublime microscopic rhythms
and atmospheric explorations which also does have Daphis remix for its own sake.
Nice listening by any means.
Period Three – Morose Beach (2014)
/Noise, Experimental
electronica, Abstract, Glitchtronica, Experimentalism, Avant-garde/
Comment: the Canadian David Turgeon`s 9-track issue moves along the pathway of freely improvised
music which is spiced up with more or less brutal (brown) noise incisions,
microscopic glitch-y sonic spots, muffled incantations, orchestrated tendencies
and…actually much more. At times his soundscape turns into fairly austere, even
abstract minimalism, at times he stands up to go walking across wide-ranging
plateaus and gliding over dimensional plateaus. The album hides many layers of
depth which can be discovered after many listening times. The issue is released under a legendary Canadian label, No Type. In a word, all the
aforementioned elements do hint at it this is a fine instance of Quebec province
based experimental music scene (GYBE!, Martin Tetreault, Simon Trottier,
Nicholas Bernier, Fly Pan Am, Tim Hecker, Muhr etc).
